Prabowo Removes Farmers' Debt, Minister Of Agriculture Amran: To Be More Productive

For your information, President Prabowo Subianto officially signed Government Regulation (PP) Number 47 of 2024 concerning the Elimination of Congested Receivables to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

The policy includes removing bad debt bills to MSMEs in three fields, namely agriculture, plantations, and livestock, fisheries and marine, as well as other MSMEs such as fashion or clothing, culinary, creative industry, and others.

"Yesterday, he decided to write off debts for farmers and fishermen, this is extraordinary. It is happiness for all Indonesian farmers," he told reporters, in Jakarta, Wednesday, November 6.

Amran said the scheme for eliminating MSME debt and farmers would be managed by the Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati. He also said that later it would be coordinated with the Association of State Banks (Himbara) or state-owned banks.

"Later that will regulate the Minister of Finance with the banking SOEs," he said.

Furthermore, Amran hopes that the policy of removing the debt bill will make farmers more provocative in the future.

"Yes, we pray that we support from upstream so that our brothers and sisters who have debts can work productively so that they no longer have debt in arrears," he said.

Previously, President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that producers in agriculture, MSMEs, and fishermen were the nation's food supporters who were very important.

Therefore, he continued, this policy is expected to be able to provide support for sectors that play an important role in food security and the national economy.

"With this, the government hopes to help our brothers and sisters - producers who work in agriculture, MSMEs, and as fishermen who are very important food producers. They can continue their efforts and they can be more efficient for the nation and state," said Prabowo.
