KKB In Papua Spread Terror Again, Civilians Shot Dead
JAKARTA - The shooting was again carried out by an armed criminal group (KKB). One resident named Oktovianus Rayo (42) was shot dead by KKB in Julukoma Village, Beoga District, Puncak Regency, Papua.
The shooting by KKB occurred at 09:30 WIT on Thursday, April 8, while the victim was guarding the kiosk. KKB came and shot the victim twice with a short-barreled weapon.
Residents in the vicinity immediately fled out of fear of shooting by KKB.
Papua Police Chief Irjen Mathius D. Fakhiri said the alleged perpetrators were the Sabinus Waker group who were heading to Ilaga at the invitation of Legakak Telenggen. On the way to Ilaga, they shot a teacher.
"So could this group shoot the teachers that we protect and guard because they are the ones who educate Papuan human resources", Irjen Fakhiri said in a written statement.
"I am the Chief of Police strongly condemn this action and we will take law enforcement measures against the perpetrators. Until now the situation can still be controlled because it is assisted by all levels of society such as religious leaders and church leaders", he continued.
Currently, the Papua Police is preparing a force to go to Ilaga to crack down on KKB.
"I hope there is intervention from the head of the region to solve this problem so that non-Ilaga people can be expelled from the area", he continued.
