Kia EV2 Tested In Europe, Launches In 2026 At Affordable Prices
JAKARTA - South Korea's auto brand, Kia plans to introduce an affordable electric car called EV2 for 2026. After being seen several times over and over on the Korean road, now the car is seen paving in European territory.
Launching from Autocar, Tuesday, November 5, this compact crossover is seen traveling in camouflage. However, the form of EV2 is still visible with a box silhouette resembling Kia Soul which is currently being sold.
The manufacturer uses the design language Opposite United which makes it look like EV9 on the front.
Not to forget, Kia EV2 also has a Tiger Grille on the front but with a different version in the form of an aggressive sharp line pairing with a modern smooth surface.
The EV2 model will be built on the same platform as other Kia EV lines, such as EV3, EV6, and EV9. Although not officially disclosed, it is possible that this car is offered in single-motor and double electric motor versions.
Kia has not provided further details about the model other than its name, but says the car will be a compact car designed with a focus on the European market and manufactured at the Kia plant in Slovakia.
Production of this new model will begin at the Kia-owned factory in Slovakia which is currently assembling the Ceed and Sportage models. Production will begin in 2025 before starting unit deliveries the following year.
The brand, which is under the Hyundai Motor Group umbrella, is targeting an initial price for EV2 of 25,000 pounds, equivalent to IDR 510.6 million. Thus, the car will compete with Renault 5, Vauxhall Corsa Electric, and Mini Cooper Electric.
Kia also plans to expand its EV2 lineup by immediately presenting a GT version or its high performance following the success of EV6 GT.
