East Flores BPBD: 63 People Injured Due To Mount Lewotobi Eruption

JAKARTA - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of East Flores Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province recorded temporary data that 63 people were injured due to the eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki.

"There were 63 people who were reportedly injured as a result of the eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki in Wulanggitang District, East Flores Regency," said East Flores Kominfo Head Herry Lamawuran when contacted from Kupang, Antara, Tuesday, November 5.

This was conveyed by Herry in connection with the eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki on Sunday night, which caused many casualties. The Center for Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation (PVMBG) has raised the status of the mountain from level III (Alert) to level IV (Awas).

He said that the 63 people who were injured consisted of 31 seriously injured, 32 minor injuries who were treated at the Boru Health Center and Lewolaga Health Center.

Meanwhile, three people were referred to the Regional General Hospital (RSUD) Dr. Hendrikus Fernandez in Larantuka, the capital of East Flores Regency. Regarding the victims who died he denied that there were 10 people.

"The truth is that nine people died and one person was declared critical," he said.

Meanwhile, 10,295 people were affected by the eruption spread across two sub-districts, namely Wulanggitang District with 9,479 people and Ile Bura District with 816 people.

Officers recorded 2,472 people displaced in three locations, with details in Konga Village 1,219 people, Bonkang Village 606 people and Lewolaga Village 647 people.

Currently, he added, a joint team has set up refugee tents and two public kitchens to serve the needs of the refugees in three locations.

The health team has alerted the Boru Health Post and Lewolaga Health Center for injured victims. Meanwhile, the search and rescue team remains on standby to anticipate reports of loss from residents.

The East Flores regional government, he said, appealed to the public not to carry out any activities within a radius of 7 kilometers from the eruption center according to recommendations from PVBMG.
