Ask The Government To Move Quickly To Help NTT, Chairman Of DPD Highlights 2 Focuses

JAKARTA - Chairman of DPD La Nyalla Mahmud Mattalitti asked the government to move faster to disburse aid for victims of flash flood disasters in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

La Nyalla said there are two focuses that the government should prioritize. First, infrastructure improvements. Second, post-disaster food security.

"The government needs to move quickly to provide education to deal with disaster victims, as well as concentrate on tackling damaged infrastructure and post-disaster food security," La Nyalla said on Thursday, April 8.

He hopes that ntt provincial government will soon coordinate to prepare victim data along with all elements, so that disaster management will be fast and efficient. Including housing for the victims.

"Funding assistance for residential rental costs in order to control the spread of COVID-19, should be directed by the local government, so as not to cross the line on the technical implementation," explained La Nyalla.

Previously, Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Doni Monardo said, it will provide funds of Rp500,000 for each family of flood and landslide victims in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

The funds, Doni said, were given to rent a nearby family home as a temporary residence. The granting of this assistance is also an effort to reduce the risk of the spread of COVID-19 in refugee sites.
