Closed Meeting with BIN Chief, DPR Commission I Discusses Potentially-Prone Election Areas
JAKARTA - Head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN), Muhammad Herindra, held a meeting with Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) at the Parliament Complex, Monday, November 4. In the closed meeting, Herindra revealed areas that are potentially vulnerable to the 2024 Pilkada.
Member of Commission I of the DPR, Ahmad Muzani, revealed that the Head of BIN discussed a number of things starting from the 100-day work program to issues that are the focus of the Intelligence sector. In particular, security for the implementation of the Pilkada which will be held on November 27, 2024.
"Earlier, we discussed several presentations by the Head of BIN in the next 100 days as a priority program, what was conveyed was how to secure the Pilkada process which will take place on November 27," said Muzani after a meeting with the Head of BIN at the DPR Building, Monday, November 4.
"And maps in various regions, maps that are considered potentially (prone to Pilkada) light, medium and heavy, were conveyed earlier," he continued.
Muzani said, the Head of BIN is committed to continuing to coordinate with law enforcement officers (APH) to support his institution in obtaining intelligence information.
"And the head of BIN said that as the state intelligence officer he will continue to coordinate with other state institutions and law enforcement, namely the Police and TNI so that intelligence information will be actively delivered to these institutions. So that as the front line of the police and support for the TNI so that it is more targeted," said the Secretary General of Gerindra.
Muzani said, the head of BIN mentioned several areas that were considered to have the potential for vulnerability during the regional elections. However, he was reluctant to reveal which areas were meant.
"Yes, there are events or demands from the community in the past that could potentially cause vulnerability so that should be an attention for the institution," he said.
Commission I of the DPR, added Muzani, fully supports BIN to be better in the future, especially in obtaining intelligence information.
