Police Arrest Bengkulu Residents Promote Cambodian Judol In IG

JAKARTA - Police arrested IE (25), a public social media figure or influencer resident of Sewide District, Bengkulu City for promoting online gambling sites (judol) or online from Cambodia.

For the judol account from Cambodia, the Bengkulu Police have reported it to the National Police Headquarters for follow-up.

"The suspect with the initials IE has endorsed an online gambling link for about a year," said the Bengkulu Police Ditreskrimsus I Wayan Riko Setiawan when delivering a release at the Bengkulu Police Headquarters, Monday, November 4, which was confiscated by Antara.

He said the IE suspect had promoted the judol site after being contacted by an unknown person via message on Instagram or IG social media.

Then, the suspect promotes a judol link through his Instagram of Rp. 100 million and will get additional pay if someone plays on the judol site through an promoted link.

Riko explained that the arrest of the suspect began when members of the Cyber Sub-Directorate carried out cyber patrols, and found an Instagram account that posted or uploaded gambling content.

"Then members of the Sub-Directorate of Cyber Ditreskrimsus Polda Bengkulu conducted a search of the owner of the Instagram account," he said.

Based on the results of coordination, his party together with the Communication and Information Service (Kominfo) related to the content or website, it was upgraded to the investigation stage and arrested IE in South Bengkulu Regency.

"From the hands of the suspect, the police secured evidence in the form of a cellphone belonging to the suspect as evidence. Then, this suspect was contacted by someone in Indonesia, while the dealer is from Cambodia," said Riko.
