Post-Eruption Of Mount Lewotobi Men, Flores Regency Government Issues Emergency Response Status

KUPANG - The Regency Government (Pemkab) of East Flores, East Nusa Tenggara Province has set an emergency response status after the eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki in Wulanggitang District which caused casualties and damage to houses and buildings in the area on Sunday night.

"For the current status, the emergency response has been lifted," said the Head of Emergency and Logistics Division of the East Flores Regency BPBD Avelina Hallan, quoted by ANTARA Monday, November 4.

This was conveyed in connection with the development of the Lewotobi Laki Volcano eruption in Wulangitang District, East Flores Regency.

The eruption, which occurred at 23.57 WITA, caused damage to houses and buildings that were right below the foot of the mountain.

As of 09.38 WITA, it was reported that the number of victims who died and were successfully evacuated reached nine people.

Meanwhile, regarding the villages affected by the eruption, he said, there were six villages in Wulanggitang District. Namely Klatanlo Village, Hokeng Jaya, Nawokote, Boru, Boru Kedang and Pullula Village as well as one village in Ile Bura District, namely Dulipali.

He also added that currently residents have also been evacuated to three villages, namely Konga, Lewolaga, Bonkang villages in Titehena District.

"Tendas for refugees have also been established to accommodate the refugees," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the East Flores Kominfo Service, Herry Lamawuran, said that updates on developments due to the eruption would continue to be conveyed if there were developments related to damage to houses and casualties.

"Later, we will update the developments again," he said.
