BMKG: Nine Regencies In Central Java Prepare For High Rainfall

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) stated that nine districts in Central Java (Central Java) have high rainfall alert status on the basis or the first 10 days of November 2024.

"This is known based on the attachment of the Central Java Province Weather and Climate Warning Letter for the First Basis period of November 2024 which was signed by the Head of the Center for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Region II," said Head of the BMKG Technician Group of Meteorological Station Tunggul Wulung Cilacap Teguh Wardoyo, ANTARA, Sunday, November 3, 2024.

He said the nine districts with high rainfall alert status include Banjarnegara, Banyumas, Cilacap, Kebumen, Pekalongan, Pemalang, Purbalingga, Purworejo, and Wonosobo.

In this case, he said, the rainfall in the nine districts is estimated to be around 200-300 millimeters per basis

"Therefore, we urge the people in the nine districts, especially those living in disaster-prone areas to increase awareness of the possibility of hydrometeorological disasters, such as floods and landslides," he said.

According to him, increasing vigilance also needs to be done by other regencies/cities in Central Java even though the area is alert to forecasts for rainfall ranging from 150-200 millimeters per basis.

He said the areas of Central Java with alert status include Batang, Blora, Boyolali, Brebes, Grobogan, Karanganyar, Kendal, Magelang, Semarang, Sragen, Tegal, Temanggung, and Magelang City.

"Rainfall in 150-200 millimeters per basis is also categorized as high, so people are advised to remain vigilant, especially when heavy rains occur for a long time," he said.

Previously, Teguh appealed to people in the southern part of Central Java, especially Cilacap, Banyumas, and surrounding areas to be aware of the increase in rainfall in November 2024.

"Regarding the development of the rainy season, rainfall in November is predicted to be high. In general, the forecast for rainfall ranges from 300 millimeters to more than 500 millimeters, with normal rain properties," he said in Cilacap, Thursday (31/10).
