NGAWI - Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia (Regional Vice President) Gibran Rakabuming Raka asked for the inauguration of the Van Den Bosch Fort or known as the Ngawi Pendem Fort in Ngawi Regency, East Java, to be accelerated so that it can be utilized optimally.

Acting Governor of East Java, Adhy Karyono, who accompanied the visit, stated that Vice President Gibran had special attention to historic buildings. As with a number of buildings in Solo City.

"The vice president cares about historic buildings. This time, he saw the Van Den Bosch Ngawi Fort to find out directly whether the process had been completed or not," said Adhy Karyono while accompanying the Vice President at the Ngawi Pendem Fort in Pelem Village, Ngawi District, Ngawi Regency, Sunday.

In addition to reviewing the physical condition of the building, Gibran also instructed that preparations for the inauguration of the Pendem Fort which had been renovated be accelerated.

"Earlier he also asked that preparations for the inauguration be carried out immediately," said Adhy.

Vice President Gibran also coordinated with the Minister of Culture to consider further restoration of several possible parts of the building so that it could be further optimized.

He wants the cultural heritage building to be utilized by the wider community at affordable entrance ticket prices.

"Mr. Vice President also asked when he could visit and how much the ticket price was, and said that the ticket price of Rp. 10,000 was quite cheap so that the general public could enjoy historic buildings easily," said Acting Governor of East Java.

Meanwhile, regarding the management of Fort Van Den Bosch, the Ngawi Regency Government has submitted a grant to the Ministry of Defense and the Indonesian Army. So far, the fort building is an asset of the Indonesian Army, namely the Medan Artillery Battalion (Yon Armed) 12.

With the application for the grant, it is hoped that the management of Pendem Fort can be managed by the local government so that maintenance and development can be funded from the APBD.

"The Ngawi Regency Government has asked the Ministry of Defense, but there is still a need to discuss the transfer of ownership and relocation of the headquarters of the Medan Artillery Battalion (Yon Armed) 12 which has been at that location," he said.
