Suspected Reckless Container Driver in Tangerang Faces 10 Years in Prison

TANGERANG - Tangerang City Metro Police have named JFN (24), a container truck driver with police number B9727 UEU who crashed into a driver of 16 vehicles and pedestrians in Tangerang City, as a suspect in an accident.

Tangerang City Metro Police Chief, Kombes Pol Zain Dwi Nugroho in Tangerang on Sunday said this determination was based on the results of the case title on Saturday and was then detained by the reckless driver.

The police chief also said that the determination of the suspect was also based on the crime scene processing with the TAA team Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya and examination of witnesses.

"After the status of the investigation was raised to an investigation and a case title, we have sufficient evidence that we have named him a suspect," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, November 3. For his actions, the suspect was charged with Article 311 paragraphs (2) and (4) in conjunction with Article 312 of Law no. 22 of 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation, with the threat of 10 years in prison and/or a fine of Rp. 20 million.

"The threat is a sentence of 10 years in prison," said Police Chief Kombespol Zain.

From the results of laboratory examinations of urine from JFN, he also tested positive for drugs, a type of methamphetamine.

"The lab results are positive, so this is very dangerous, driving a vehicle under the influence of drugs," said Zain.

As for the chronology of the incident, starting with the Wing Box tronton truck driven by the suspect JFN coming from Cikokol to Cipondoh, it hit the rear bumper of Ertiga's Suzuki car which was stopped at Traffic Light (TL) towards Kodim.

Because of panic and under the influence of drugs, the suspect fled towards Cipondoh and was chased by a number of residents to Jalan KH. Hasyim Ashari and hit a motorcyclist again, then fled towards Nerogtog, Graha Raya, Banjar Wijaya, returned to Jalan KH Hasyim Ashari, finally stopped at the Adipura monument roundabout on Jalan Veteran. Until JFN was attacked by an angry mob.

"There were 10 cars and six motorbikes that were damaged due to being hit or grazed by the truck driven by JFN. There were no reports of fatalities, while six people were injured, consisting of four women and two men," he said.
