PAMEKASAN - The General Election Commission (KPU) of Pamekasan Regency, East Java, Saturday night, held a second public debate for the candidate pairs for regent and deputy regent participating in the 2024 Pilkada and the event was broadcast live on one of the local television stations.
The debate with the theme "Increasing the Governance of Public Services in Pamekasan Regency" involved as many as five panelists from three universities.
"This debate is a means for each pair of candidates to convince voters through their vision and mission and programs," said Chairman of the Pamekasan KPU Mahdi as quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, November 3.
This second public debate looks more lively than the first debate to be held on November 20, 2024.
Police officers from the Pamekasan Police must implement a layered security pattern to anticipate things that are not desirable.
The first lapis is at the location of the debate room, the second layer is around the entrance and the hotel gate which is the near location, while the third layer is along the way to and from the debate location.
Previously, officers from the East Java Regional Police's Explosives disposal team (Jhandak) also carried out sterilization at the debate location by conducting an examination using a metal detector.
"We do this to anticipate things we don't want, and as an effort to create a sense of will for all parties," said Pamekasan Police Chief AKBP Jazuli Dani Iriawan.
The police also checked one by one the support teams of the three pairs of candidates who wanted to enter the debate room based on the invitations and identification cards they brought.
According to the Chairman of the Pamekasan KPU Mahdi, the public debate between the candidate pairs for regent and deputy regent refers to KPU Regulation Number 13 of 2024 and KPU Decree Number 1363 of 2024.
