Ministry of Communication and Digital Employees Become Suspects in Online Gambling Case, DPR Commission I Appreciates Minister's Commitment to Eradicating Online Gambling
JAKARTA - Member of Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Rizki Aulia Rahman Natakusumah, appreciates Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid who is committed to eradicating online gambling practices. Following the determination of 11 suspects related to online gambling by the Jakarta Metro Police, including employees of the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi).
"She has conveyed that she will not play around if there are ranks in her ministry involved in online gambling," said Rizki, Saturday, November 2.
According to Rizki, this determination is included in the efforts of Commission I of the DPR together with the government, namely Kominfo or Komdigi.
"Hopefully in the future, her role in coordinating well with the Cyber Police, the state intelligence agency, the PSSN, cyber and state codes can be even better," he said.
As a member in charge of communication and informatics affairs, Rizki noted several things that must be done in the future. First, the public must be better educated.
"Because the best laws, the best regulations, as long as they are not bottom up, as long as they are not rooted or starting from the grassroots of society, it seems difficult to be optimal. Well, in the future, we hope that this can be boosted again from the Komdigi Ministry and all programs and others, can implement this policy well," said the Chairman of the DPR BURT.
Second, clarifying the laws and regulations. Among them, the division of duties and functions of the ministry and institutions.
"It must also be clear where Komdigi is moving, where the Police Cyber is moving, where the BSSN is also moving. Well, this will be the issue of discussion in Commission I," said Rizki.
"In the future, Commission I, which is led by a new leader, will also have many new members, the ministers are also new ministers, I am sure their enthusiasm will be even stronger to eradicate judol," concluded the Democrat Legislator for the Banten electoral district.
As previously reported, the Metro Jaya Police has named 11 suspects related to online gambling. Including among them are employees of the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi).
Minister of Communication and Digital, Meutya Hafid appreciated the police's steps to arrest and take legal action against the parties involved. She said she would coordinate with the police as a form of commitment to creating a comfortable digital space.
"We have and will coordinate and synergize with the National Police as a real manifestation of our shared commitment to create a clean, safe and beneficial digital space for all Indonesian people," she explained in an official statement.
Meutya also stated that State Civil Apparatus (ASN) in Komdigi had signed a special integrity pact related to the war on online gambling. The ministry will take firm action against all violations, including those who carry out online gambling.
Law enforcement will be carried out firmly and without discrimination. Especially for officials in the ministry.
"So, we will be firm and not play around anymore in the issue of all criminal violations, especially online gambling in order to provide protection to the people so that they are safe in the digital space is our commitment according to the president's direction," explained Meutya.
"We remind all ASN in the Kemenkomdigi environment to comply with the pact," she added.
