List 27 Indonesian National Team Players For Against Japan And Saudi Arabia
JAKARTA The All-Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) officially announced a list of 27 players who were called to fight Japan and Arabia Suadi this month.
The Indonesian national team is scheduled to undergo two home matches for the third round of the Asian zone 2026 World Cup qualifiers on November 15 and 19 at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK).
In the list of summons, Shin Tae Yong did not make many surprises. The South Korean coach included popular names such as Jay Idzes, Martin Paes, Tom Haye, Justin Hubner, and Jordi Amat.
Hubner himself was not previously included in the Garuda squad against China and Bahrain. At that time he was not included in the fire because he was still struggling with injury problems.
The injury problem left several names off the list for the two matches against Japan and Saudi Arabia later. That includes the Persebaya Surabaya duo Ernando Ari and Malik Risaldi.
Indonesian national team captain Ansawi Mangkualam is also confirmed to be absent. The player who was strengthening Port FC was sidelined because it took several weeks to recover his injury.
Asnawi's absence made Shin Tae Yong enter the name Yakob Sayuri who had just recovered from injury. He was called up with his twin brother Yance Sayuri.
Indonesia will first face Japan on November 15 before four days later it is the turn to host Saudi Arabia. Garuda troops are expected to get points from these two matches.
On paper, Japan will be the biggest test for Jay Idzes and his friends. The team is so far unbeaten and still topping the Group C standings.
Indonesia has hope against Arab later. The reason is, when they travel to the headquarters of the team nicknamed The Green Falcon, Indonesia is able to bring home one point.
Currently, Indonesia sits in fifth position in the standings with a collection of three points, the result of three draws and one defeat. Thus, Garuda needs points to keep the hope of getting a ticket to the 2026 World Cup.
If that position does not change until the third round is over, Indonesia's dream will disappear. To keep him alive, Shin Tae Yong's squad must finish in third or fourth place to continue to the next round.
