Erick Thohir Invites Private Companies To Get Healthy Indofarma

JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir admitted that he had prepared a number of steps in an effort to make PT Indofarma Tbk (INAF) healthy.

One of them is cooperating with private companies.

Erick said this involvement aims to support the strengthening of the business model that Indofarma will run. This includes ensuring the raw materials for drugs produced by Indofarma.

"So now in our indofarma, we are returning to the first step, actually healthy, one of which is that we are trying to discuss with several partners from the private sector who can earn raw materials because this is an important raw material," said Erick at the Ministry of SOEs Office, Jakarta, Friday, November 1.

But unfortunately, Erick admitted that he could not talk much about which companies were targeted to cooperate to carry out the restructuring.

"But I'm not allowed to talk about who, because it's still in the tender process, so I haven't got the term yet," he said.

When there is a guarantee of raw materials, continued Erick, drug production will begin. Where some of the results will be used for export.

"But when production occurs, it's the same, we try to see if we can get 50 percent of the production, we can send it abroad," he explained.

According to Erick, this collaboration will monitor more thoroughly. That way, continued Erick, the raw materials will be controlled.

"But this modeling is what I want so that there is a check and balance, the raw materials are controlled, the domestic market can also be done, but this is also done abroad. Because by checking and balance, I think that is a very powerful method for SOEs today and in the future," he said.

Erick also emphasized that the aspect of supervision of SOEs cannot be done alone. Therefore, he said it takes the involvement of other parties to participate in ensuring its performance.

"Because I often say, it is impossible for SOE supervision to be directly supervised only from the ministry," he explained.

"But what about the public sector or from partnerships called strategic partners or financial partners. So far, in some restructurings and partnerships, this has become the key to how sustainability is," he said
