PGN's Sweet Harum Program, Encourages Improvement Of The Quality Of Life Of The Harjamukti People
Depok PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN) Offtake Cimanggis Station formed the HARUM MANIS (Harjamukti Unggul Masyarakat Optimistic) program. This initiative is to improve the quality of life of the people of Harjamukti, Depok, West Java.
The HARUM MANIS program is motivated by efforts to overcome the accumulation of waste that has long been one of the main problems in Harjamukti Village, Depok. So HARUM MANIS is designed for community empowerment, so that waste can provide benefits both socially and economically to communities in Harjamukti, especially in vulnerable groups such as the elderly and children. It also aims to make people able to live in a healthier and more sustainable environment.
Through the HARUM MANIS program, PGN encourages community-based waste management efforts, where its activities will provide benefits both environmentally, socially and economically to the community in RW 10 Harjamukti. The income from this waste processing is also allocated to support the Integrated Public Space that is friendly to the elderly and children, besides that it also creates a comfortable and inclusive social space for all residents.
"The HARUM MANIS program is not only a solution to the challenges of waste in Harjamukti, but also has an economic impact on the community. PGN hopes that through this program, the people of Harjamukti can enjoy better quality of life and support a greener and more sustainable environment," said Fajriyah Usman, PGN's Corporate Secretary.
There are several PRIMARY HARUM programs, the first is the Anyelir Waste Bank 2. This Waste Bank program processes organic and inorganic waste. Some of these processed products from the Waste Bank include waxing the aroma of therapy from Jelantah Oil waste and Eco Enzyme which utilizes waste from household waste into multipurpose liquids, plant fertilizers, pest exhausts, and can be used as an outside wound medicine. In addition, there is also an Ecobrick utilizing simple inorganic waste that can be used for the manufacture of chairs.
"There is a Citizen Hub initiative, which is an integrated public space that is used as a center for community activities. This integrated public space is used as an activity center for various ages in the social environment of RW 10 Harjamukti. It can be used for socio-economic spaces, stationary or social spaces and literacy, as well as green economic spaces," explained Fajriyah.
The Socio-Economic Room is used for the community to carry out all social activities. Such as integrated spaces or parks equipped with various children's games and sports equipment that can be used by the elderly, spaces for learning park activities, exploration spaces and youth creativity.

Meanwhile, the Green Economy Space is a space consisting of a community economic center in the form of an MSME Corner and limited agricultural land managed by the Farmers Group in RW 10 Harjamukti. Posyandu and Posbindu are also held to support public accessibility to health in units of RW. The entire space is sought to become an environmentally friendly space by using renewable energy to fulfill facilities such as the use of solar panels.
"The existing program also recognizes the community's Regency on the use of environmentally friendly energy. So, it is echoed that the New Renewable Energy Park is Children's Friendly and Elderly. This park utilizes solar panels, solar energy which is transformed into electrical energy to support all activities at CITIZEN HUB, including lighting for the park. There is also the use of kinetic energy that is transformed into electrical energy. Kinetic energy is produced from children's gaming tools and the elderly sports which are then accommodated into batteries to be used as light," explained Fajriyah.
The sub-district head of Cimanggis Subdistrict, Dody Setiawan, positively welcomed this program. Dody said, "Utilization of solar panels as clean energy in the Cimanggis sub-district is a new thing that is present in the midst of society. With this solar panel can create benefits for a sustainable society.
Fajriyah continued, this environmentally friendly park was carried out in response to the company's climate change. It is hoped that this activity can help reduce the carbon emissions that already exist in the park. In addition, this park is expected to be an educational park for children.
The last is the Poshemat initiative or the abbreviation of the Great Posyandu Masyarakat Strong Harjamukti. This program empowers the community through improving public health. This program arises because of the stunting problem which has become a national priority program by cooperating with the company sector in dealing with these problems.
"PGN Offtake Cimanggis Station as the company sector seeks to take a role in dealing with stunting problems in the Harjamukti area. In addition to targeting stunting problems, this program also targets the elderly. The Empowered Elderly Group is one of the solutions to the problem of vulnerable groups. Elderly, namely increasing social and psychological function, and can increase social cohesion," concluded Fajriyah. (ADV)
