Gotong Royong Bangun Jargas, Solutions To Reduce The Burden Of Energy Subsidies Through Optimizing Domestic Gas

JAKARTA - PT PGN Tbk as Pertamina's Gas Subholding always maintains its role in helping reduce the burden of subsidies and energy imports, through the massive development of household jargas. Of course, this is in line with the energy self-sufficiency target where Indonesia is increasingly independent in terms of energy fulfillment by utilizing domestic sources.

From the government side, jargas can help reduce subsidies and energy imports. Energy subsidies can also be more targeted and improve the current foreign exchange of the country, support community economic growth and employment during gas network development. As for the community, jargas can enjoy practical, safe, and efficient energy.

"The task force can help reduce imports that have been burdensome so far," said Laode Sulaeman as Director of Oil and Natural Gas Infrastructure Planning and Development at the FGD Mutual Cooperation Investorrust to Build Jargas, October 29.

In the same event, Gunawan Eko Movianto, Director of Synchronization of Regional Government Affairs I - Directorate General of Regional Development of the Ministry of Home Affairs conveyed the support of the Ministry of Home Affairs to bridge the interests of local governments by developing jargas. "The Ministry of Home Affairs supports the construction of gas cylinders for energy self-sufficiency so that we can take advantage of domestic natural wealth in collaboration with all stakeholders with the important execution to be carried out," he said.

PGN welcomes the support from various stakeholders whose hopes are to be a stimulus in the future in the development of gas lines. The estimated reduction in LPG Imports from the management of the existing gas network PGN currently reaches 84,000 tons per year and a reduction in Subsidy of IDR 468 billion per year per 1 million household connections. This figure will certainly continue to grow along with the growth of gas lines which are jointly accelerated by related parties.

"It takes alignment of the energy mix in gaseous areas with substitutional fuel, especially subsidized LPG to optimize the Jargas program, as well as increase customer confidence," said PGN's Director of Strategy and Business Development Rosa Permata Sari.

"For the sake of national interest, there is a commitment to a clean environment and saving foreign exchange, jargas is the solution. Commitment to building important jargas and conscience in national energy management is important for the people. In addition, in the context of geopolitical, when the east is shaking, then 50% of oil and gas supply can be disrupted. Gas will be one solution to maintaining national energy security," added Komaidi Notonegoro, Executive Director of the Reform Institute.

Agus Pambagio, Public Policy Observer added, "Do we want or not to reduce energy subsidies? Because global conditions are also quite worrying. In terms of national energy security management, whether we want to be recognized or not, Indonesia is quite dependent on imports. Now or never (building jargas)," he said. (ADV)
