Employees Of Suspect Judol, Minister Meutya Invites Police To Clean Up Their Ministry

JAKARTA - Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs (Menkomdigi) Meutya Hafid opens the widest possible opportunity for law enforcement officers to 'clean up' online gambling practices (judol) in the ministry he leads.

Meutya made this statement in response to the police's efforts to arrest 11 people suspected of being involved in online gambling cases. Some of them are employees of the Ministry of Communication and Trade.

"Earlier I coordinated with the National Police Chief, with the Regional Police Chief. In essence, I invited the police to help clean up," said Meutya Hafid when fulfilling President Prabowo's summons at the Presidential Palace complex, Jakarta, Friday, November 1, which was confiscated by Antara.

In his statement, the former television journalist has given directions to all levels of the Ministry of Communication and Trade to assist all investigations carried out by the National Police regarding the alleged case.

"We have emphasized to the internal ranks to support instructions to comply with the integrity pact that we previously built with the ranks of ministries to jointly fight online gambling," he said.

For individuals who are proven to be wrong through the court's inkrah decision, Meutya ensures that she will dishonorably dismiss them. Meanwhile, for employees with suspect status in that case, temporary work will be deactivation will be carried out during the ongoing investigation process.

Meutya added that the police's efforts to uncover online gambling practices within their agencies were part of the internal cleaning efforts of the ministry he led.

"Please pray, hopefully it will be a good effort to clean up according to President Prabowo's direction for us to fight online gambling," he said.

Previously reported, Polda Metro Jaya arrested 11 suspects in an online gambling case involving unscrupulous Kemenkomdigi employees in Bekasi City, West Java.

"These are 11 people, some of whom are employees of the Ministry of Communication and Trade, including expert staff from Komdigi," said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Police Ade Ary Syam Indradi when confirmed in Jakarta, Friday.

Ade Ary explained that the Komdigi Ministry employee has the authority to check online gambling webs to block them. However, they abuse their authority by not blocking online gambling sites.
