Progress 78 Percent, Renovation Of The Sriwijaya Earth Stadium In Palembang Targeted By The End Of November Village

JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo Dody Hanggodo began blusukan to the regions to see the infrastructure development being carried out by the Ministry of Public Works. One of them is the Sriwijaya Bumi Stadium in Palembang City.

The construction progress for the rehabilitation and renovation of this stadium has reached 78 percent and is targeted to be completed by the end of November.

Dody advised that the stadium renovation be carried out carefully, starting from the design stage to development by paying attention to safety aspects.

"Please later in using it to pay attention to the exit and entry, the audience's access must be wide, including an emergency door," said Dody in a written statement, quoted Friday, November 1.

After completing the renovation, Dody said, the next task is to take care of and make the best use of the Sriwijaya Bumi Stadium. So that the sustainability of athlete coaching in South Sumatra can be maintained.

The rehabilitation of the Bumi Sriwijaya Stadium has begun on December 19, 2023, with the APBN budget of IDR 64.19 billion.

Improved infrastructure includes the main field, single seat seats for spectators, lighting, landscape areas and other supporting facilities. Including, facilities that support the needs of persons with disabilities.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center (BPPW) of South Sumatra, Ika Sri Rejeki, said that the improvement of the Sriwijaya Earth Stadium was an effort to support the transformation of football in South Sumatra through the provision of infrastructure with national and international standards FIFA.

"This stadium was built in 1972, previously it had needed to be repaired at several points of the building. For that, we carried out rehabilitation starting from structure, architecture to MEP of course," he said.

It is known that the renovation of the Bumi Sriwijaya Stadium will increase the status of the training field to a match field. Thus, Palembang City has two stadiums that meet FIFA standards, in addition to Gelora Sriwijaya Stadium, Jakabaring.

In addition to replacing the grass and arranging the stands, renovation work was also carried out to increase the audience capacity from 6,000 to 6,400 single seats.
