Ministry Of Transportation Postpones Crossing Tariff Adjustment On 27 Crossings
JAKARA - The Ministry of Transportation through the Directorate General of Land Transportation (Ditjen Hubdat) has postponed the adjustment of economic class crossing rates to a total of 27 routes. Initially, the increase in tariffs was planned to take effect from today.
The increase in crossing rates was previously stipulated in the Decree of the Minister of Transportation Number 131 of 2024 concerning Amendments to KM 61 of 2023 concerning Tariffs for the Implementation of Interprovincial and Cross-Councial Economic Crossing Transportation. The regulation stipulates an average crossing rate increase of 5 percent.
Director General of Land Transportation Risyapudin Nursin said the postponement of the tariff increase was carried out because he considered the need for longer socialization time to the public. He assessed that the socialization time should be increased first.
"The delay in this tariff increase was carried out because it considered the need for longer socialization time to the public so that information can be conveyed properly and can be accepted by service users," said Risyapudin in an official statement, Friday, November 1.
Risyapudin said the policy of increasing ferry transportation rates had been delayed indefinitely. He also emphasized that as of today crossing services still use the previously applicable rates.
"The tariff adjustment is intended to maintain a balance of public interests, safety and shipping security, as well as business continuity and operations of the ferry transportation industry," he concluded.
Previously, PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) had officially announced that it would implement tariff adjustments on 22 crossings.
The crossing routes managed by ASDP will experience tariff adjustments, namely Merak-Bakauheni, Ketapang-Gilimanuk, Padangbai-Lembar, Tanjung Kalian-Tanjung Api-Api, Bitung Ternate, Sape-Labuan Bajo, Pagimana-Gorontalo, Bitung-Tobelo, and Batam-Kuala Tungkal.
