Boxing Diving Business At The 2028 Los Angeles Olympics Starts With Results
JAKARTA The effort of the World Boxing Agency (World Boxing) so that boxing is not dropped at the Los Angeles Olympics, United States, in 2028 is increasingly bearing fruit.
The agency expanded its membership to 51 countries by approving as many as seven new registrants.
The seven new members are Andorra, Belgium, Iraq, Lithuania, Madagascar, Kyrgyzstan, and Thailand. This further strengthens the foundation of the new international body for the lifetime of corn.
"This achievement beyond 50 members shows demands for reform in global boxing and broad recognition that boxing should remain part of the Olympics," said World Boxing Agency President Boris van der Vorst, quoted by Boxing Scene.
The announcement was made when World Boxing hosted its first U-19 World Boxing Championship in Pueblo, Colorado. The event took place from 26 October 2024 to 2 November 2024.

The tournament, which will be held at the Pueblo Convention Center, will end before the second annual World Boxing congress which is scheduled to be held on November 3, 2024.
"I am grateful for the support of boxing leaders around the world. I look forward to welcoming more members along with our growth," Boris said.
Earlier in August 2024, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) had set a deadline until 2025 to decide whether boxing would be entered into the Los Angeles Olympics or crossed out.
However, the addition of members announced by World Boxing has again paved the way for boxing because they are likely to soon meet the requirements set by the IOC.
To note, the boxing competition at the 2024 Paris Olympics which had just passed was run by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) after the International Boxing Association (IBA) was frozen for failing to carry out governance and financial reforms.
This problem makes the IOC not included boxing sports in the Los Angeles 2028 program. They also urged that boxing federations need to form a new boxing body so that their sports can still be contested.
The IOC suspended IBA in 2019 and then did not involve the agency in a boxing match at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics which was postponed for a year due to the corona pandemic. They then withdrew their confession of IBA in 2023.
World Boxing was launched in the same year to save boxing. This agency only needs IOC recognition so that boxing enters the Los Angeles program later.
