Toyota Will Launch Electric SUV Sourced From Suzuki

Toyota has confirmed that it will launch an electric SUV sourced from Suzuki starting in the first half of 2025.

Citing from the Drive page, Friday, November 1, Toyota has announced that it will sell an electric SUV model made in India's Suzuki in the first half of 2025 which will also be available under the Suzuki and Daihatsu brands.

Although further details have not been confirmed, it is likely that the candidate is a production version of the Toyota Urban SUV and the Suzuki EVX concept announced in 2023.

Indeed, these two Japanese brands have long collaborated with Toyota to own five percent of shares in Suzuki. The collaboration between the two has given birth to models sold in Europe, India, and Africa since 2016, models in question include Toyota RAV4 and CorolllaPORTs sold as Suzuki Across and Swace, as well as Suzuki Baleno and Grand Vitara such as Toyota Glanza or Starlet and Urban Cruiser.

"By utilizing the BEV units and platforms we are developing together, we will take new steps in our collaboration in the electric vehicle sector," said Toyota President Koji Sato.

He further said this collaboration allowed Toyota to provide various options that contribute to carbon neutral around the world.

"We want to learn from each other's strengths, compete, and continue joint efforts based on a multi-path approach," he added.

On the same occasion, Suzuki Toshihiro Suzuki expressed his gratitude for the collaboration the two companies have carried out.

Suzuki will supply our first BEV to Toyota globally. I am grateful that the collaboration between the two companies is deepening in this way," said Suzuki Toshihiro Suzuki.

Knowing the Suzuki EVX concept, this electric car features a 60 kWh battery pack, sourced from Chinese company BYD using 'Blade' lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) technology. The model was briefly exhibited by Suzuki in Indonesia at the GIIAS 2024 event last July, will this model enter the country? Of course it is worth waiting.
