PSG Sanctioned Due To Anti-LGBTQ Supporter Song

JAKARTA - Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) was sentenced to close part of the Parc des Princes stadium stands due to the anti-LGBTQ singing sung by supporters.

PSG were found guilty of their fans singing the anti-LGBTQ song during the match against Strasbourg earlier this month.

The French Football League Disciplinary Committee (LFP) decided on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, local time that Auteuil's tribune at the Parc des Princes should be partially closed for one match. Sanctions take effect from November 5.

This means that PSG must carry out the sentence when they host Toulouse on November 22, 2024 in Ligue 1.

You see, the party is PSG's first home game in Ligue 1 this season after the official sanctions took effect.

In fact, there were three other matches before hosting Toulouse, namely against RC Lens, Atletico Madrid, and Angers SCO.

However, the match against Lens was held on November 2, 2024, despite playing at home. Then, the duel against Atletico Madrid was a Champions League party even though it was also held at the Parc des Princes on November 7, 2024.

Finally, the fight against Angers is an away match on November 10, 2024.

LFP previously condemned the chant. In fact, the incident also caught the attention of the French sports minister, Gil Averous.

Gil Averous announced last week that Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 matches may be suspended or fully suspended if there are more similar incidents of singing or violence.
