Only Exhibited, This Is The Reason For IQube's New TVS Electric Motorcycle To Be Sold In Indonesia Next Year
JAKARTA - PT TVS Motor Company Indonesia has officially introduced its newest electric motorcycle named iQube at the Indonesia Motorcycle Show (IMOS) 2024 at ICE BSD, Tangerang. The motorbike is positioned below the iQube S so that the price is more affordable.
Although it has been introduced recently, the company announced that iQube will be sold in the country's market next year. Then, what is the cause of the electric motor being sold in 2025?
Deputy General Manager (DGM) of PT TVS Motor Company Indonesia, Rizal Tandju said the time to market depends on several aspects, especially since the manufacturer is preparing a local battery assembly line.
"We were setting up the battery line, when it was ready it could complement all domestic needs such as TKDN and others," said Rizal on the sidelines of the IMOS event, Tangerang, Wednesday, October 30.
In addition, certainty regarding the continuation of subsidies for electric motors also determines the time for the sale of iQube in Indonesia. Keep in mind, this year's electric motorcycle subsidy quota has been fulfilled.
"If the government continues the subsidy, there will be no more obstacles in marketing iQube. But if it doesn't continue, then we will continue to sell it because EVs are the future," added Rizal.

Even though they have to wait until next year, Rizal also ensures that customers can make orders by only giving an identity to the seller so that they can be contacted when the unit is ready.
"Just drop the name, so if there is certainty we can contact it when the unit is ready. So customers can do early purchases," explained Rizal.
From the battery side, the standard iQube has a battery with a smaller capacity of up to 2.2 kWh which is able to provide a distance of up to 75 km in a full battery state. Meanwhile, iQube S uses a 3.4 kWh battery with a range of 100 km.
The performance of the two also has their own advantages with a 4.6 kW-powered electric drive that can run from 0 to 40 km/h in 4.2 seconds. However, the resulting top speed is different from iQube reaching 75 km/hour and iQube S to 78 km/hour.
TVS iQube will enter the Indonesian market next year with a price tag below IDR 50 million. As an illustration, iQube S is sold for IDR 52.9 million.
