PGTC 2024, PGN And Udayana University Breakthrough Nets & Green Energy Solutions During The Energy Transition Period
BALI - PT PGN Tbk as Pertamina Gas Subholding and Udayana University collaborate in order to develop energy management capabilities to find solutions as well as energy breakthroughs. PGN's collaboration with the academic community is wrapped in the framework of Pertamina Goes To Campus 2024 (PGTC 2024) activities.
Director of the Development Program of the Directorate General of Oil and Gas at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Mirza Mahendra, explained that the challenge of using EBT in the future is economic and synergizes upstream and downstream arrangements. "We have the task of the President to carry out energy self-sufficiency. Because the energy of imports will erode the Indonesian economy and our task together is to maintain energy management through energy diversification programs," he said.
Continued Mirza, to get to Net Zero Emission 2060, the most important point is the energy transition. The keyword is natural gas as the most environmentally friendly fossil energy. "That's why PGN delivers better energy from an environmental perspective," said Mirza.
Then from the reserve side, at this time and some time in the future, gas reserves are sufficient. However, it has a challenge, namely infrastructure to distribute gas to the community to NZE 2060.
Future energy management for PGN needs collaboration with the academic community to develop innovative research. PGN's collaboration with Udayana University is also to prepare superior human resources for future energy management. So this on the occasion can also increase corporate cooperation with future candidates for national energy managers," said PGN President Director Arief Setiawan Handoko.
Cooperation in various aspects, specifically in the field of new and renewable energy research, is a shared commitment in reducing better carbon and earth tracks. Udayana University as part of the academic community in educational institutions, together with PGN, synergize, complement each other so that education, awareness and increase in the discourse on energy transitions that we are currently facing can be rolled out smoothly," said Udayana University Chancellor Prof. I Ketut Sudarsana.
PGN and Udayana University agree that natural gas as transitional energy can bring real change, welcome new and renewable energy in the future. This collaboration is also expected to bring future generations to be concerned about energy issues and ready to enter the world of work in the midst of digitalization.
"Hopefully the cooperation can be a good energy start for all of us," said Prof. I Ketut Sudarsana.

Arief hopes that PGN and Udayana University can produce constructive cooperation to support PGN's efforts in developing natural gas utilization. In addition, it can be to expand the socialization of natural gas utilization among young people, especially Udayan University students. Specifically in Bali, PGN induces natural gas products beyond pipelines, namely CNG and LNG. Considering that there is no pipeline infrastructure and gas sources on the island of Bali.
"In order to prepare an energy solution towards new and renewable energy, one of the opportunities to collaborate is hydrogen energy. PGN will also lead there as part of a step out strategy or initiative for low carbon business to support Net Zero Emission 2060," Arief concluded. (ADV)
