Loh Kok Tum Band Steps On Gas, Holds A Tour To Five Cities

JAKARTA - Loh Kok Tum Band, a group consisting of Magi (vocals), Marcello Tahitoe or Ello (guitar),vies Item (guitar), Yuke Sampurna (Bas), Reno Fahreza (keyboards), and Eno NTRL (drums) are preparing to hold their first tour.

Although not yet launching original works, the group, which was only introduced to the public a few weeks ago, is preparing to travel to five cities on the islands of Java and Bali.

The group itself was born thanks to the casual chat of musicians who needed other atmospheres and had fun outside of the main project. According to Yuke Sampurna, this project has become a kind of'step-out' for them to explore types of music with different genres of music that are usually played with their respective bands.

Sometimes a musician needs a new atmosphere, especially in the midst of busy gig schedules with our main band. I've had a full band schedule, the saturation level is there and I feel the need for a new atmosphere. From there I thought about side project. Finally I invited Ello and Mas Reno, we made a band, "said Yuke in his statement, Thursday, October 31.

The group name idea was taken from Ello's comments in an Instagram photo post when we performed together. There he wrote, "Well, how come it's a band, we think it's also fun to use that name for this band project. Our first job gig was at one of the venues in Bali," continued the Dewa 19 bassist.

The upcoming tour will take place during November and December. Apart from Bali, Loh Kok Tum Band will also visit Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Bandung, and Surabaya.

"Well, Kok Tum Band is here for Indonesian music. Here we want to reminisce and revive music romance in the 1990s-2000s. The era was really exciting in the music world. We as musicians miss the musical atmosphere in that era, many hit songs have emerged, which have been sung until now," said Reno.

For that, on the tour, we will perform hits from Oasis, Bon Jovi, The Cure, Duran Duran, Radiohead and others. The songs are still sing along sung everywhere until now," continued Reno.

In the future, Loh Kok Tum Band will also make their own works, but in the meantime, the six personnel will focus on the tour schedule that is already in sight.

Actually, we want to bring the atmosphere of the party, what we like. We want to be more interactive both on stage and on stage. We want to be more approximate with our audiences, so we don't just appear and then go backstage or go home. If asked when the work will be released, we also don't know when. Of course, later we also want to make an album, just wait," concluded Ello.
