Marijuana Field On The Slope Of Mount Semeru, 4,388 Trees Destroyed By The Police

LUMAJANG - The police are again searching for marijuana fields in the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS) area, Argosari Village, Senduro District, Lumajang Regency, East Java.

Assisted by joint officers, the police searched a number of new points suspected of still having marijuana fields.

As a result, the police together with joint officers from the TNI and the village security task force secured 4,338 cannabis stems of various sizes. The plant was destroyed in this joint operation.

"We cleaned the rest of the points some time ago. As a result, we destroyed 4,338 from five points," said Head of Lumajang Police, Kompol Jauhar Ma'arif, on Thursday, October 31.

In addition to finding thousands of cannabis plants, the police have also again named four new suspects who have previously been arrested. However, the police have not been able to reveal how many new suspects have been arrested.

"What is clear with this finding is that there are additional suspects. Later we will report it back later," he said.

Furthermore, based on the findings of this new marijuana, Ma'arif appealed to the public to remain vigilant and immediately report if they find any indications of growing marijuana around them.

"Rainfall weather like this often triggers new plant growth. Therefore, we invite the public to actively participate in protecting the environment so that it remains clean from drugs," he said.

Previously, the police had secured 42,740 cannabis plants plus 10 kilograms of dried marijuana ready for distribution in the TNBTS forest area. From these findings, the police arrested four suspects, namely Ngatoyo, Bambang, Toni, and Tomo.
