Alert! Extreme Weather Landa Bogor From Today To November 6

BOGOR - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that the regencies and cities of Bogor have the potential to experience extreme weather heavy rain accompanied by strong winds and lightning in the next week from Thursday, October 31 to November 6, 2024.

West Java BMKG Forecaster Leni Jantika Haswan explained, in the last week period there were several factors that affected the formation of convective clouds and local rain in parts of West Java.

Among them, the sea level temperature in some Indonesian waters is still relatively warm; active MJO in Phase 5 (Maritime Continuent) contributes to the process of forming rain clouds. But it is more influential in Eastern Indonesia.

"The humidity in the 850 - 500 mb layer is in the range of 50 98%; Cyclonic circulation in the east of the Philippine Sea and around the South China Sea which forms wind deceleration (convergence) areas and wind bends around the northern part of Java supports the supply of rain clouds to the West Java region; atmospheric lability is generally in the mild to strong unstable category," explained Leni, Thursday, October 31.

Leni explained, based on the monitoring of rainfall in the West Java Province, it was known that in the past week there had been heavy to very heavy rain in some areas of Karawang Regency, Subang Regency, Pangandaran Regency, Sukabumi Regency, Tasikmalaya Regency, Bandung Regency.

In the next week, he said, it is predicted that there will be several factors that will affect the formation of convective clouds and or the occurrence of rain in parts of West Java.

"Among them are sea level temperatures in some Indonesian waters that are still relatively warm, Waves, Active Rossby Equatorials in West Java where winds (convergence) and wind bends occur in parts of West Java, local atmospheric liabilities are light to strong to support convective processes in parts of West Java," he wrote.

Leni continued, based on forecasts for atmospheric dynamics developments on global, regional and local scales, as well as deterministic and probabilistic weather models, rain with light to moderate intensity is predicted to still have the potential to occur in parts of West Java, the potential for moderate to heavy/very heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds in parts of West Java.
