62 Drones Launched, Russia's 19th Attack In Kyiv Injures 9 People

Nine people were injured, several apartments were burned and kindergartens were damaged in Russia's 19th attack on the Ukrainian capital this month.

The Ukrainian air force said Russia launched 62 drones, but air defense units destroyed 33 of them in Kyiv and other regions.

"Nine dozen airstrikes in Kyiv in October," said Serhiy Popko, head of Kyiv military rule.

"Last night, Russian drones flew over the capital again," he said.

The debris that fell from the destroyed drone sparked a fire in a multi-storey apartment building in the Sodomianskyi district in western Kyiv and injured nine people, including an 11-year-old girl, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said.

"Everyone immediately received medical treatment on the spot," he added.

Nine people were evacuated from the building. Reuters eyewitnesses at the scene saw firefighters rushing to extinguish the fire in an apartment building with several windows broken.

Warnings of airstrikes were heard across Kyiv, surrounding areas and nearly the entire eastern part of Ukraine for more than two hours a night.
