Jokowi Urges Companies To Pay THR Employees
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) urged companies to pay employees Eid al-Fitr (THR) allowances. The provision of THR is believed to encourage increased consumption ahead of Eid al-Fitr in order to maintain economic growth.
"Earlier in the meeting was conveyed that one to encourage consumption ahead of Eid is the provision of THR to employees. this was conveyed that it was time for the private sector to provide THR because various activities have been given," said Minister of Economy Airlangga Hartarto in a press conference after the plenary cabinet session that was broadcast by youTube presidential secretariat, Wednesday, April 7.
Jokowi according to Airlangga stressed the importance of maintaining economic growth momentum in line with the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. Moreover, the government continues Airlangga has provided PPnBM facilities.
"The government also encourages that companies can pay THR because there is a government already provide facilities PPnBM (Elimination of Luxury Goods Sales Tax)," he continued.
In addition to reminding companies to give THR, efforts to boost consumption are also carried out by the government by encouraging national spending days on H-10 and H-5 Eid. On the national shopping day of domestic products, the government prepares an injection of postage subsidy funds
"The government will subsidize postage so that the government prepares 500 billion," he said.
Airlangga previously asserted that businesses are required to carry out the provisions of payment of holiday allowances (THR) in full to workers this year.
"Last year THR dicicil, I asked this year to be paid in full. We have to commit," he said Thursday, April 1.
Meanwhile, Menaker Ida Fauziyah said that it will issue regulations to ensure the company pays THR Lebaran 2021 for its workers.
"We have formulated a wage policy during the economic recovery period due to COVID-19 such as the provision of religious holiday allowances in 2021," Ida said at a hearing meeting (RDP) with Commission IX of the House of Representatives, Tuesday, March 16.
However, Ida has not set a payment method. Meanwhile, in 2020, THR was paid in dicicil due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation which caused the national economy to contract quite deeply.
