Men's Singles And Women's Doubles Endangered By Absen At BWF World Tour Finals 2024

JAKARTA The men's singles and women's doubles sector is in danger of being absent at the closing tournament of the 2024 BWF World Tour Finals season because it is still far from the requirement to qualify for the event.

The BWF World Tour Finals 2024, which provides a 2.5 million US dollar prize, is scheduled to take place on 10-15 December 2024 at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center, Hangzhou, China.

This tournament was only attended by top eight athletes in the race to Hangzhou world. However, the men's singles and women's doubles are currently still outside the safe place.

From the men's singles number, two Indonesian mainstay athletes, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting and Jonatan Christie, are currently ranked 16th and 17th in the race to Hangzhou.

Their position to qualify is difficult because both of them did not play at the Hylo Open and the 2024 Korea Masters. The decision to miss out automatically eliminates their chances of getting points to boost the rankings.

Although both of these events are level Super 300 BWF, Anthony and Jonatan's points will automatically go up if they decide to appear there.

Actually there are still three remaining tournaments after that before the BWF Finals. The three tournaments are Japan Masters (Super 500), China Masters (Super 750), and Syed Modi (Super 300).

However, Anthony and Jonathan will have to fight harder if they appear in these three events. They can at least penetrate the final and win to reach a safe place in the top eight.

Meanwhile, the women's doubles Febriana Dwi Puji Kusuma/Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi and Jesita Putri Miantoro/Febi Setianingrum currently sit in 12th and 25th positions.

The two pairs will certainly appear at the Korea Masters 2024 and may participate in three other events. However, their struggle will not be easy either.
