Heart Of Invictus Documentary Series, Harry-Meghan's First Joint Project With Netflix
JAKARTA - Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are focusing on their first project with Netflix. Unlike the interview with Oprah, this time the two will feature a documentary series about the Invictus Games.
Through Archewell Productions, Harry and Markle will produce a documentary on the Invictus Games - a global adaptive sports competition that Prince Harry founded. The series will be directed by Oscar winner Orlando von Einsiedel and producer Joanna Natasegara.
Heart of Invictus follows a group of international competitors, all of whom are members of the military who suffered life-changing injuries or illnesses on the way to The Hague 2020 Invictus Games, although the competition will only be held in 2022.
The series will document how they train and reveal exciting life stories, as well as participate in the Olympics with teams to represent their respective countries.
"Since the first Invictus Games in 2014, we know that every competitor will contribute in their own extraordinary way to build resilience, determination and determination," Prince Harry told Variety on Wednesday.
"This series will show people around the world the touching and exhilarating stories of these competitors on their way to the Netherlands next year. As archewell Productions' first series with Netflix, in partnership with the Invictus Games Foundation, I am excited to travel forward or be proud of the Invictus community that continues to inspire global healing, human potential, and sustainable service," he continued.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's agreement with Netflix includes documentaries, feature films, scripted TV series and children's shows.
The couple founded Archewell Productions as a vehicle for producing programs that could embrace humanity and a shared obligation to truth through the lens of compassion, which is in keeping with archewell's organizational mission.
As well as executive producer of Heart of Invictus, Prince Harry will also appear on camera in the documentary series.
The Invictus Games Foundation will serve as executive producer. The project will provide significant funding for the organization, as well as support the group's work ahead of the Olympics in The Hague.
As part of that, the international Invictus community is offered access to virtual sports activities to aid their recovery and preparation. After the 2022 Olympics in the Netherlands, the next one will be held in Dusseldorf, Germany in 2023.
"We are thrilled to have the opportunity from Netflix to highlight the men and women we work with, to ensure that more people can be inspired by their determination and fortitude in working for their recovery," said Dominic Reid, chief executive of the Invictus Games Foundation.
"This partnership will also bring significant funds to charity. We are very grateful to our Founding Protector for his continued efforts to support the military community, and for realizing this partnership," he added.
Director von Einsiedel is the founder of Grain Media, while Natasegara founded Violet Films. Their 2015 documentary Virunga was nominated for an Academy Award, while the 2016 documentary short film The White Helmets won an Oscar.
