JAKARTA - In the world, there are a number of tourist destinations that are known to be the most haunted. The Time Out page has shared a list of 20 places that are considered the most haunted in the world.

1. La Recoleta Cemetery, Argentina
The first most haunted place according to Time Out is La Recoleta Cemetery, located in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The supernatural activity in this place is considered to have a high level, especially since some of the most influential figures are buried there.
In La Recoleta Cemetery there are crypts or underground rooms, which are usually used to store coffins. In that place, it is said that there are often ghosts, including celebrity ghosts.
2. Lawang Sewu, Indonesia
Lawang Sewu is second on the list of the most haunted places in the world. This place, which is one of the icons of Semarang City, Indonesia, is a popular tourist location, which used to be the headquarters of the Dutch East Indies Railway Company from 1919-1942.
This place is iconic with its symmetrical doors and mystical buildings. Time Out said that Lawang Sewu is the most haunted place in Indonesia, with the basement being considered the scariest.
3. Lizzie Borden House, United States of America
The next scary place is in the United States, namely the Lizzie Borden House in Massachusetts. This house is known for its horrific murder story.
Lizzie Borden, one of the residents of the house was accused of killing her father and stepmother with an axe in 1982. Currently, the house is open to the public as a horror tourist location.
4. Poveglia, Italia
Poveglia, a small island abandoned by its inhabitants is a haunted place in the middle of the romantic area of Venice, Italy. Poveglia holds many spooky haunted locations.
The place used to be a quarantine place, before being converted into a mental hospital until it finally closed in 1968. Because this place is so scary, the local government actually forbids it from being visited.
5. La Isla de la Munecas, Mexico
La Isla de la Munecas or the Island of Dead Dolls is a spooky place in Mexico. This island belongs to a Don Julian Santana Barrera who has been hanging dolls on trees since the 1940s.
The dolls were originally hung to ward off evil spirits, which eventually became a place for spirits to live. Since it was opened to the public, there have been reports of dolls on this island moving their heads, arms, opening their eyes, and even whispering to each other.
