Pindad Ready To Produce Maung For Red And White Cabinet Service Vehicles

JAKARTA - Pindad is ready to produce Maung vehicles to be used as ministerial operational vehicles, according to President Prabowo Subianto's instructions. President Director of PT Pindad (Persero) Abraham Mose stated that his company had actually started production.

"We have to be ready because support for facilities and infrastructure will definitely be provided. In principle, Pindad has started production and the results are already there and have been used," Mose said when confirmed, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, October 29.

However, Mose has not disclosed the number of units that will be prepared for use by ministers in the Prabowo-Gibran Red and White Cabinet.

Previously, Deputy Minister of Finance Anggito Abimanyu said that President Prabowo Subianto planned to provide official vehicles in the form of Maung cars made by PT Pindad (Persero) for ministers and all echelon 1 officials in his current government.

Anggito conveyed this in the 15th Anniversary of the Peak Dies Natalis and Lustrum III of the Vocational School of Gadjah Mada University (UGM) in Sleman, Yogyakarta. "Next week, I will start using the Maung car made by Pindad," said Anggito.

According to Anggito, President Prabowo wants the use of imported vehicles as official vehicles to be stopped in his government era.

"Pak Prabowo has emphasized that starting next week there will be no more imported goods for echelon 1 vehicles and ministers. This is extraordinary," said Anggito.

Anggito added that Maung's car was designed by Professor Sigit Puji Santosa of the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), who also serves as Director of PT Pindad, with the composition of domestic components reaching 70%.

Maung is a 4x4 light tactical vehicle produced by PT Pindad designed to support close combat operations and heavy field exploration. Based on Pindad's official website, Maung is designed to have agile maneuvers and reliable ability to support mobility in various operating field conditions.

This SUV is capable of reaching speeds of up to 120 km/hour, has a manual transmission of 6-speed, and is capable of traveling a distance of up to 800 km.

Maung can also be equipped with a 7.62mm caliber rifle, SS2 V4 gun console, GPS navigation device, vehicle tracker, and other equipment.

With a capacity of four passengers, this car weighs 2,160 kg and can be modified for various needs.

For special use by President Prabowo, Maung has been modified with European style, equipped with chrome pellets and the "GARUDA" logo on the back.
