PTDI Sends 6th NC212i Aircraft For The Indonesian Air Force

PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) sent a unit of NC212i aircraft for the Indonesian Air Force (AU). The aircraft is the 6th unit out of a total of nine NC212i aircraft ordered through a procurement contract with the Indonesian Ministry of Defense.

The five aircraft had previously been delivered in stages, two units in 2023, one unit in 2022 and two units in 2021. Meanwhile, according to the plan, the 7th aircraft will be delivered in February 2025.

Director of Finance, Risk Management and HR, Megy Sismandany said this step was PTDI's dedication in strengthening the spirit of nationalism and supporting the nation's independence through the provision of quality weapons system (Alutsista) main tools.

"NC212i is one of the most sought-after aircraft in the market thanks to its multi-functional design, operational cost-effective, and capacity in taking off and landing on a short runway," he said in an official statement, Monday, October 28.

Furthermore, he said, PTDI has succeeded in producing 124 units of NC212 series aircraft which are not only operated by customers in Indonesia, but also by various customers from several countries in the world.

"The success of PTDI in exporting this aircraft to various countries is clear evidence that domestic products are able to compete in the global market," he said.

Megy and the Production Director, Batara Silaban, participated in the preparation and ferry flight of the NC212i aircraft which will then be operated by Air Squadron 4.

The plane with thetail number AX-2133 was delivered with a Troop Transport configuration flown by Major Pnb Syamsu Alam as Pilot In Command Ferry, as well as Captain Pnb Adam as Copilot 1 and First Lieutenant Pnb Risqi Nurhafidah as Copilot 2, after previously receiving the Flight Acceptance Certificate on October 24, 2024.

This time, just like the fifth plane delivery, NC212i is equipped with a new propeller made by MT Propeler, Germany, namely MTV-27 which has been certified by EASA.

"For the advantages of MT Propeller which are felt now, the sound or noise is lower, then when carrying out the single engine above, there is no intention to start," said In Command Ferry Pilot Major Pnb Syamsu Alam.

Syamsu also said the MTV-27 compatible propellers with installed engines, namely Honeywell TPE331, provide optimal performance with low noise and vibration levels during the operation.

"Hopefully this will be a momentum, so that in the future we can take or deliver new PTDI planes with a better situation," he said.

"Of course, this latest aircraft will be one of the strengths as Alutsista in Squadron 4. Of the nine aircraft, six planes have been delivered or about 60 percent, we hope that in the near future it could be 100 percent," said Syamsu.
