SAR Team Finds Body Of Teenager Drowning In Selabung River, South Sumatra

The joint SAR team managed to find the body of a teenager named Faiz (14), a resident of Pendagan Village, Ogan Komering Ulu Regency (OKU) Selatan, who was reported to have drowned in the Selabung River on Saturday afternoon at around 11.00 WIB.

"After a search was carried out, finally the victim was found this afternoon at around 17.40 WIB in a state of death," said Head of Emergency and Logistics Division of BPBD South OKU, Heri Pramono, in Muaradua, Antara, Sunday, October 27.

He said the victim's body was found floating in the waters of the Selabung River, about four kilometers from the location where the victim was reported drowned.

"The victim drowned by the current while bathing in the Selabung River with three of his friends," he said.

In searching for victims, the joint SAR team formed two teams to walk along the river so that victims were found immediately.

The sweeping of the river flow was carried out using three rubber boats starting from the first point the victim disappeared to the Selabung River in the Talang Bandung Bawah area, Muaradua District.

In fact, officers in the field were also assisted by the surrounding community who carried out a sweep by walking on the edge of the river.

"Currently, the victim's body has been taken to the funeral home for burial by the family," he said.
