PLN Nusantara Renewables Encourages Renewable Energy In Indonesia

JAKARTA PT PLN Nusantara Renewables (PLN NR) continues to strengthen its strategic role in the development of new and renewable energy plants (EBT) in Indonesia.

President Director of PLN Nusantara Power, Ruly Firmansyah, stated that the formation of PLN NR as a subsidiary is a strategic step taken to overcome the limitations of external funding due to the PT PLN Global Association Agreement (Persero).

"PLN Nusantara Renewables as part of the PLN NP group is more responsive to growth opportunities in the dynamic electricity market, especially in meeting the increasing national electricity needs, through the construction of environmentally friendly generating units," said Ruly in his statement, Sunday, October 27.

Ruly said that PLN NR is at the forefront of PLN NP in obtaining funding for the development of EBT plants in the country. This is in line with the Company's vision to become a leading electricity investment company in sustainable energy.

"We continue to innovate and collaborate with international partners to present sustainable and environmentally friendly energy solutions for the nation's future. This transformation is a clear proof of our dedication in optimizing the potential for new and renewable energy for the welfare of the Indonesian people," said Ruly.

Ruly conveyed that with a clear vision and strategic steps that are being developed, PLN Nusantara Renewables is ready to present a cleaner and more sustainable energy future for Indonesia.

Since its establishment on December 18, 2015, PLN NR has spearheaded investment in EBT-based private power plants, and has shown a strong commitment to Indonesia's green energy future.

With assets of more than IDR 8 trillion, PLN NR has succeeded in realizing several monumental projects, including the Java 7 PLTU with a capacity of 2 x 1,000 MW which is the first largest PLTU in Indonesia with environmentally friendly Ultra Super Critical technology.

In addition, the company, which recently transformed from PJB Investment to PLN NR in 2024, again made a breakthrough through the Cirata Floating PLTS with a capacity of 145 MWac equivalent to 192 MWp, the largest floating power plant project in Southeast Asia as well as the third largest in the world today.

To note, PLN NR also shows strong financial performance by posting a net profit of IDR 790 billion in 2023, where most of the revenue comes from JVC's net profit of IDR 777.7 billion.

The company's investment portfolio reached a total of 3,210 MW, with 2,145 MW operating, 895 MW in the construction stage, and 170 MW in the development stage.

On the other hand, international cooperation is one of PLN NR's strategies in developing power plants, with partners such as CHN Energy for PLTU Java 7, Masdar for PLTS Terapung Cirata, Total Energies for Tanah Laut PLTB, SembCorp for PLTS IKN, and GD Power Development for PLTS Floating Karangkates.
