Sued By Pretrial, KPK Claims Handling Of Cases Karna Suswandi Is In Accordance With Procedures

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) assesses that the rejection of the pretrial lawsuit with the applicant Situbondo Regent Karna Suswandi (KS) shows that the investigation and determination of the status of the suspect by the KPK is in accordance with the procedure.

"This decision confirms that the formal aspects in handling this case are in accordance with the mechanisms and procedures," said KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardhika when confirmed by ANTARA, Sunday, October 27.

Pretrial lawsuit with case number 92/Pid.Pra/2024/PN Jkt. Sel was filed by Karna Suswandi on September 17, 2024.

The pretrial was filed because after the person concerned was named a suspect in the alleged corruption case and the receipt of bribes related to the management of the National Economic Recovery (PEN) funds as well as the procurement of goods and services in Situbondo Regency.

The KPK also expressed its appreciation to the panel of judges at the South Jakarta District Court for the decision.

Pada Selasa (27/8) malam, KPK mengumumkan telah memulai penyidikan perkara dugaan korupsi pengelolaan dana PEN serta pengadaan barang dan jasa di Pemerintah Kabupaten Situbondo.

"For the investigation case, the KPK has also named two suspects with the initials KS and EP. Both are state administrators of the Situbondo Regency Government," said Tessa at the KPK's Red and White Building, South Jakarta, Tuesday.

However, the KPK has not provided further explanations regarding the identity or details of the corruption crime.

In accordance with the anti-corruption commission policy, he said, any party designated as a suspect and details of the case will be announced after the investigation is complete.

"Regarding the unlawful acts committed by the suspects, we will announce it when the investigation of this case is deemed sufficient," he said.
