Pep Guardiola: Manchester City Will Not Experience Collapse Like Manchester United If I Go

JAKARTA - Pep Guardiola said Manchester City would not collapse like Manchester United if he decided to quit as manager this summer.

The Red Devils have not won the Premier League title since Sir Alex Ferguson stepped down in 2013.

In that range, The Citizens have won it in six of the last seven years.

Guardiola also insisted the club would continue to win even after he left the Etihad Stadium.

"I don't know what happened (at Manchester United). This will be a bad sign for the club if one person leaves and everything goes to chaos."

"Maybe they will make a mistake. As long as the error happens they will solve it."

"The mistake will be resolved soon, that's for sure. The players know exactly what they have to do," Guardiola said as reported by ESPN.

Guardiola is under contract until the end of this season. So far he declined to comment on whether he would extend his contract or not.

Various rumors say that Manchester City expects Guardiola's decision between the November 2024 international break and the New Year.

However, they are aware not to pressure the 53-year-old coach to make decisions.

Manchester City's Football Director, Txiki Begiristain, has told the club that Guardiola will leave at the end of the season and will be replaced by Hugo Viana from Sporting Lisbon.

"They (clubs) will be patient, calm, and know what they have to do," said Guardiola.

"Of course, I don't doubt it. With Txiki for 12 years and my case, it's only natural that we can't go. But, of course we can keep going. Life goes on. The earth keeps spinning."

"This club is well managed and the structure is good. Solid clubs don't depend on one figure or another. If the club is strong, it doesn't matter. Otherwise, it won't be good," said the Spaniard again.

Manchester City is in a positive trend this season. Since Community Shield, The Citizens have been unbeaten in 13 matches, 10 wins and three draws in all competitions.
