Mount Semeru Several Eruptions With Eruptions Up To 600 Meters

Mount Semeru, which is on the border of Lumajang and Malang regencies, East Java, experienced several eruptions with an eruption height from 300 meters to 600 meters above the peak on Saturday morning.

From 00.00 to 08.00 WIB, there were nine eruptions of Mount Semeru, namely the first eruption at 00.09 WIB with visual eruptions not being observed.

"Then the eruption occurred again at 00:7 WIB with an eruptive column height of about 300 meters above the peak and a column of ash was observed to be white to gray with moderate intensity to the north," said Mount Semeru Observation Post Officer, Liswanto, as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, October 26.

The mountain, which has a height of 3,676 meters above sea level (masl), erupted again at 00:02 WIB with a column height of ash observed about 400 meters above the peak and a column of ash was observed to be white to gray with moderate intensity to the north.

Next the eruption at 04:47 WIB with a column height of ash was observed to be about 300 meters above the peak or 3,976 meters above the top. The ash column was observed to be white to gray with moderate intensity to the south. When the report was made, the eruption was still ongoing.

A few minutes later or at 05:19 WIB, another eruption with an eruption height was observed about 600 meters above the peak and the ash column was observed to be white to gray with moderate intensity to the south.

Furthermore, the eruption was observed to be about 300 meters above the peak when the eruption occurred at 05:40 WIB and the ash column was observed to be white to gray with moderate intensity to the south.

At 05:51 WIB, the mountain, which has an altitude of 3,676 meters above sea level, erupted again with an eruption height of 300 m above the peak and the ash column was observed to be white to gray with moderate intensity to the south.

The eruption occurred again at 06:23 WIB with an eruption height observed about 600 meters above the peak and the ash column was observed to be white to gray with thick intensity to the southwest. This eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 22 mm and a duration of 100 seconds.

"Then at 07:14 WIB, it was recorded that there was another eruption with a height of ash column being observed about 500 meters above the peak. The ash column was observed to be white to gray with thick intensity to the west," he said.
