Russian Attack On Near Ukrainian Kupiansk Market Kills 4 People, Dozens Of Kiosks Damaged

JAKARTA - Russian attacks in eastern Ukraine killed four people and injured 10 others today.

Thermobaric ammunition attack in the city of Kupiansk in the northeastern region of Kharkiv injured 10 people, regional governor Syniehubov said.

A woman who was hospitalized was in critical condition after the attack was pronounced dead.

"The enemy attacked near a store and city market," said Syniehubov.

According to him, the two-story retail building was damaged, along with dozens of kiosks and windows of houses nearby.

Russia occupied Kupiansk in the early days of its invasion in 2022 but was successfully driven away by a retaliatory Ukrainian attack in September that year.

In recent months, Moscow troops have slowly moved back to the city and are now less than 4 km from the northern suburbs of the city.

The Russian attack the following day killed three people in the area around Pokrovsk's strategic center in the eastern region of Donetsk, governor Vadym Filashkin said.

Russian troops have stepped up their movement towards Pokrovsk in recent months, moving as close as 8 km from its outskirts.

Russian media and war bloggers reported on Thursday that Russian troops had advanced to the coal mining town of Selydove, about 20 km southeast of Pokrovsk.

Ukraine's General Staff said the most intense Russian attack along the front lines is currently taking place on the Pokrovsk front, including near Selydove.
