Young Boys Vs Inter Milan: Not An Obstacle For The Nerazzurri Experienced Squad

JAKARTA - Inter Milan will visit the home of Young Boys, Wankdorf Stadium, on the third matchday of the 2024/2025 Champions League, Thursday, October 24, 2024, early morning WIB.

The Nerazzurri came to Switzerland with a capital without defeat in the Champions League this season. Simone Inzaghi's team won four points from one draw against Manchester City (0-0) and won against Red Star Belgrade (4-0).

It is far different from the hosts Young Boys who suffered two defeats against Aston Villa (0-3) and Barcelona (0-5). They were stranded on the caretaker of the standings.

Inter are clearly seeded. Moreover, Inzaghi still believes in last season's very experienced Serie A championship squad.

Although with an average age of over 30 years, the Nerazzurri squad has experience in reaching the Champions League final in the 2022/2023 season. Since the 2021/2022 edition, the same team has also brought Inter to always qualify for the knockout phase.

Not only that, since starting their first Champions League campaign under Inzaghi in 2021, they have recorded more clean-sheets than anyone else.

In the last five matches in the Champions League alone, Inter have packed four clean-sheets.

Not to mention the record of the last four consecutive wins in all competitions since losing to city rivals, AC Milan.

Overall, Inter have only lost once in 10 games in all competitions this season.

The Nerazzurri are in high motivation towards Bern, Young Boys headquarters. Lautaro Martinez and colleagues just beat Roma in Serie A on Sunday, October 20, 2024.

Although Inter have a negative record of never winning in their last three Champions League away games, they have not subsided. In fact, Inzaghi's team are excited to end the record.

Young Boys are certainly not a big obstacle for Inter even though they benefit from playing at home. There is no fear from the Nerazzurri.

You see, Young Boys are one of eight teams to lose in the first two matches of the Champions League.

They even conceded eight goals, the most among other contestants that made it even tougher to qualify for the playoffs.

Meanwhile, Inter are likely unable to be strengthened by Hakan Calhanoglu and Francesco Acerbi who suffered muscle injuries.

However, Inzaghi was not worried. He still has Kristjan Asllani and Piotr Zielinski. The depth of the Nerazzurri squad even allows for rotation.

Mehdi Taremi or Marko Arnautovic recently had the opportunity of Inzaghi even though Marcus Thuram and captain Lautaro Martinez were in their best form.

There was a chance Martinez paired with one of those coatings because he needed one more goal to hit the record.

The 27-year-old was pushed to become the Nerazzurri's all-time leading goalscorer who is not an Italian player.

Then, Martinez's goal against Red Star Belgrade took him just one goal adrift of Adriano (14) as the club's top scorer in the Champions League for Inter.
