Honda Team Asia Keeps Mario Aji In Moto2 2025

JAKARTA Idemitsu Honda Team Asia officially maintains Indonesia's young racer, Mario Suryo Aji, in Moto2 for the 2025 competition season.

The team announced a contract renewal with the 20-year-old through their official Instagram social media on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, evening WIB.

"Mario Suryo Aji will take steps forward and lead the Moto2 team in the 2025 season," reads a statement from Honda Team Asia.

The Madiun-born racer made his Moto2 debut in 2024. Thus, next year it will be his second season in that level race.

Selama musim ini, Mario Aji tandem dengan pebalap asal Thailand, Somkiat Chantra, yang akan tampil MotoGP tahun depan. Hal itu otomatis membuat Mario harus mendapat tandem baru asal Jepang, Yuki Kunii.

Mario said he was happy to be given another chance by his team. He said this would be a new challenge as well as his opportunity to prove himself.

"We are facing a lot of ups and downs this season. However, I have gained valuable experience and my goal in 2025 is to show everything I have learned," he said.

Mario's best result so far this season is finishing 15th in Catalunya, Mugello, Aragon, and most recently on Phillip Island. He is currently ranked 29th in the standings with four points.

Meanwhile, the 2025 season will mark Yuki Kunii's debut in the Moto2 category. The Setagaya-born racer made his debut in the Grand Prix motorcycle race in 2019.

At that time, he appeared as wildcard in Brno. Yuki Kunii then competed in full season in Moto3 for 2020 and 2021.
