SEA Games 2025 Becomes The Nearest Focus Of The Ministry Of Youth And Sports

JAKARTA The 2025 SEA Games will be the closest focus of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) of the Republic of Indonesia in the Red and White Cabinet for the 2024-2029 term of service.

The 33rd multi-branch edition involving Southeast Asian countries is scheduled to take place from 9-20 December 2025 in three Thai cities.

The Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora), Dito Ariotedjo, said that this event was important as a warm-up to face bigger events in the future.

"Certainly 100 days for the sports sector is the 2025 SEA Games. So, of course how to prepare the Indonesian contingent well," said Dito.

The 2025 SEA Games are the first multi-pronged in the era of President Prabowo Subianto's leadership. In addition, this is a crucial event to prepare athletes for the next major events.

The two major events after that were the 2026 Asian Games which took place at Aichi and Nagoya, Japan, as well as the Los Angeles Olympics, United States, in 2028.

Dito said he was happy because at this time he did not work alone with the burden of getting heavier. The reason is, he will be assisted by Taufik Hidayat as Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports (Wamenpora).

"With this Deputy Minister, there will be more spectra that we can achieve. Of course, with both techniques like this, it will be better because the reach that can be achieved will be more," said Dito.

This is Dito's second chance to sit on the chair of the Minister of Youth and Sports. The Golkar Party politician was previously trusted to serve for 1.5 years in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet under President Joko Widodo.

With the help of Taufik Hidayat, Kemenpora is expected to improve Indonesia's sports achievements. One of them was when he appeared at the 2028 Olympics.

At the world's biggest four-year event, Indonesia's ranking is targeted to increase by getting more than two gold medals for the first time in history.
