Technology Integration As A Step PGN Realizes Reliability Of Infrastructure And Green Economy Transformation

BANTEN - The development of technology and digital transformation are the main aspects for the current industrial progress, one of which is the oil and gas industry. In order to advance infrastructure excellence to support the operation and transformation of the green economy, PT PGN Tbk (PGN) as Pertamina Gas Subholding integrates technology for the sustainability of the company's business.

"The main supporters in finalizing infrastructure and designing PGN's strategic programs towards a green economy are supported by digital transformation. Digitalization is carried out in the entire chain of gas business processes ranging from operations to customer management with IT solutions that can increase customer engagement to integrated companies between Operation Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT)," said PGN's Director of Strategy and Business Development, Rosa Permata Sari, at the Road to Islamic Digital Transformation Forum 2025 event on Friday (18/10/2024).

In carrying out project design and company business sustainability, PGN adopts technology in addition to being an adaptation step, as well as in order to develop innovation. This is evidenced through several applications, such as Digio (Digital Information for Gas Infrastructure Operation) which supports the effectiveness of managing and designing natural gas infrastructure, SiApp Gas-In which is used to carry out project initial planning by preparing timelines and resources, and SipGas (Gas Distribution Information System) which is used to monitor the movement of natural gas distribution and supporting infrastructure.

Along with technological changes, PGN is trying to adapt and innovate sustainably. Even for operating meter, PGN has also applied technology in it so that it is more transparent for customers. Other examples such as smart meters for automatic recording of gas usage for customers so that they are more accurate and easy to monitor, automatic meter reading, even for the acquisition and management of meter data we have also access to using technology through Girore and SipGas," explained Rosa.

In addition, current technology has penetrated a wider realm to create Artificial Intelligence (AI). In addition to supporting human intelligence, it also supports accelerating growth in the industrial sector and increasing business competitiveness. PGN has also begun to apply AI in developing natural gas infrastructure, clustering, and accelerating gas distribution throughout the country.

"Technology, in this case AI, which is currently rampant, helps us build infrastructure quickly. With this technological approach, PGN sees a suitable market and classifies the use of natural gas so that import LPG can be minimized, so that it is easier for us to realize the energy transition and the green economy," added Rosa.

Digital transformation plays its role vitally in supporting PGN in realizing the big vision of Indonesia Gold 2045 through two things. First, strengthening legacy business by securing national gas supply and developing overall gas infrastructure through technology, as well as integrating Gas/LNG Portfolio including Jargas using Oracle Siebel and PGN Mobile. Second, starting the Low Carbon Businesses business with the acceleration of distribution of Metanol and Biometana through synergy with Pertamina Group, as well as developing the transmission of CCUS/CCS (CO2 pipeline) which is also facilitated by technology.

"We can create a strong energy ecosystem, by continuing to ensure that there is a basis for digitalization transformation and also a technological innovation climate. This aims to provide reliable services effectively, efficiently, and can provide comprehensive effects.
