Prabowo Wants To Create A Special Village For Indonesian Congregants In The Holy Land
JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto wants to create a special village for Hajj and Umrah pilgrims from Indonesia in Saudi Arabia, so that all worship activities in the Holy Land can be centralized in one place.
This was conveyed by the Head of the Hajj Organizing Agency, Irfan Yusuf, who had just been inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto, along with four other heads of special agencies at the State Palace in Jakarta, Tuesday, October 22.
"He hopes that Indonesia will have its own Hajj village, Indonesian village in the Holy Land, so that all Hajj activities, as well as Indonesian Umrah pilgrims, can be localized in one place there," said Irfan as quoted by ANTARA.
Irfan said the formation of this special Hajj organization was because President Prabowo had many hopes about organizing the hajj.
In addition to wanting Indonesian pilgrims to be able to depart safely and comfortably, the President also wants localization of Hajj and Umrah pilgrims from Indonesia in the Holy Land.
The Hajj Organizing Body, said Irfan, will currently coordinate with the Directorate General of Hajj and Umrah of the Ministry of Religion until the 2025 Hajj is held.
The President hopes that the Hajj Organizing Body can work independently next year.
"In 2025, we are still collaborating with the Directorate of Hajj. In 2026, God willing, we are independent," he said.
The appointment of Moch Irfan Yusuf as Head of the Hajj Organizing Agency is based on the Decree of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Number: 144/P of 2024 concerning the Appointment of the Head and Deputy Head of the Hajj Organizing Agency.
Irfan Yusuf was accompanied by Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak as Deputy Head of the Hajj Organizing Agency.
