Two Of Virgil Van Dijk's Toughest Opponents

JAKARTA - Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk called Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi as the toughest opponent he has ever faced.

Van Dijk and Messi went head-to-head last season, when Liverpool made an epic comeback in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final. At that time Liverpool reached the top party and won the Big Ear trophy.

The Netherlands international pays tribute to Messi, who owns a six-time Ballon d'Or trophy who is considered one of the greatest players of all time.

However, Van Dijk also praised another Argentine striker, Sergio Aguero. The two players have met frequently in the Premier League in recent seasons.

Asked who was the most difficult player to guard against, the defender replied: "Aguero."

Van Dijk then said he was fit and ready to compete when the Premier League season, which was postponed due to the COVID-19 or corona virus pandemic, continues.
