Malaysian PM, Anwar Ibrahim Attends Prabowo Inauguration - Gibran

JAKARTA - Malaysian Prime Minister (PM) Anwar Ibrahim will attend the inauguration of President and Vice President-elect Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka on Sunday (20/10) during his work visit in Jakarta on 19-20 October 2024.

The Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Wisma Putra) in a press statement received by Antara in Kuala Lumpur, Saturday, said PM Anwar's working visit at the invitation of the Indonesian Government to attend the inauguration of Prabowo-Gibran which will be held at the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Building tomorrow.

Anwar, who was on a working visit accompanied by the Chairman of the Sabah Minister, Commander of Haji Haji Haji Noor, and senior officials from the Prime Minister's Office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, are also scheduled to make a respectful visit to the new president.

Prabowo Subianto took over Joko Widodo's duties as President of the Republic of Indonesia who has served as the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia for two terms from 2014 to 2024.

The statement said that the Malaysian Government gave the highest appreciation for Joko Widodo's role in strengthening bilateral relations between Malaysia and the Republic of Indonesia.

The Malaysian government is also committed to continuing close relations between the two countries under the new government led by Prabowo Subianto.

The working visit, according to Wisma Putra, symbolizes that the special bilateral relationship between Malaysia and the Republic of Indonesia is supported by close cooperation in various fields according to common interests.

In 2023, Indonesia will become Malaysia's 7th largest trading partner globally and 3rd largest in ASEAN, with a total trade value of USD 24.39 billion (111.21 billion Malaysian ringgit) or around IDR 393.5 trillion.
