Miracle Or Medical Mistake? Men 'Died' Life Again During Organ Donation Operations

JAKARTA - A shocking case occurred in Kentucky, United States, when a man who was declared brain death and ready to be organized, surprisingly woke up during the ongoing organ removal operation.

Launching The Guardian, Saturday, October 19, this case has sparked an in-depth investigation by the authorities regarding procedures and ethics in the organ donation process.

The man's name is Anthony Thomas "TJ" Totaling II was initially declared brain death after experiencing a drug overdose. The family that was hit agreed to donate their organs. However, while operations were in progress,men showed signs of life that shocked doctors.

These events have raised serious questions about the accuracy of brain mortality diagnosis and procedures carried out before organ collection.

The firehouse family is now demanding that this case be thoroughly investigated and hopes that similar incidents do not happen to others.

Both the Baptist Health hospital and the Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates (Koda) have issued an official statement regarding this case. However, the family still insists that there are irregularities in the handling of the case.

Moreover, regarding the donor's approval, it came from the hospital staff who informed his family thatmen had given permission to donate organs if he died. To fulfill his wishes, the hospital tested which organs were worth donating, and had even held a ceremony to honor him.

"We glanced at the point of seeing his eyes open but were told they (the hospital) that it was just a reflex just a normal thing," said my sister.

About an hour afterher underwent surgery to retrieve her organs, a doctor came out and explained that she was "not ready".

"He woke up," the doctor told his family.
