Departing Independently, Four Indonesian Cataplet Athletes Participate In The World Championships In China

JAKARTA - The 2024 China Slingshot Club Competition (SCCC) catapult world championship will take place in Shanghai, China, October 18-20. Interestingly, there are four Indonesian catapult athletes departing independently to take part in this event.

"Our participation in this catapult world championship is an effort to raise Indonesian catapult sports in the world arena," said Head of the Research and Development Division of the Indonesian Catapel Lovers Gathering Forum (Forspect) Satria Conayio when contacted by telephone from Jakarta, reported by ANTARA, Saturday, October 19.

The four athletes are Angga Ramadhan and Dody Dayu Ajie from the spectre catalyst club Surabaya, East Java, Budi Narwanto from the WSC catalyst club Wonogiri, Central Java, and Fudji Wong from Ketapel Mania, Boyolali, Central Java.

Athletes and officials from Indonesia named their team as the Kauravas when they appeared in the championship which was attended by more than 400 participants from various countries.

Satria said the participation of athletes was important for Indonesian catapult sports which had also become the parent sport under the Forspek Indonesia could be recognized in the global arena together with WSA members from other countries.

So far, he said, not many Indonesians know that the catapult sport has developed a lot, so it is still considered a traditional culture.

"So with participation in this prestigious championship, we hope that catapult sports in Indonesia will also be increasingly recognized by our people," he said.

Satria added that the event which lasted for five days in the championship not only brought together athletes from various parts of the world, but also as a means to introduce cultural creations of each country to the international audience in the form of athletes' skills, catapult products, and exchange information about world catalyst sports.
